The Laurie Burns McRobbie Serve IT ClinicLinks to an external site. offers students an opportunity to receive credit through a course that provides real-world projects or service to clients from the local nonprofit community. Students are placed in teams according to interest and skill, can return semester after semester, and are able to build a portfolio that demonstrates both skill and civic-mindedness through service.
- Student interns are placed on teams and matched with a nonprofit organization.
- These groups work to create websites, databases, provide graphic design, and computer hardware for organizations.
- Some intern teams also attend afterschool clubs to teach local kids basic computer science standards through fun activities.
Innovation & Entrepreneurship
Open to all Luddy students and the broader IU community, the Innovation & Entrepreneurship Program helps students seize their future and do things that have never been done before.
The program includes features like:
- The Shoemaker Innovation Center, which provides work space and hosts classes, workshops, and events with entrepreneurs.
- Student organizations such as StartupIU + Ideation and Creation Entrepreneurs (ICE)
- A Certificate in Entrepreneurship that undergraduates can earn to complement their current degrees.
