- AMPATH Nepal released the attached strategic plan produced following our strategic planning meeting last October.
- Dr. Rose House and 6 other Faculty from Dhulikhel Hospital participated in the Project ECHO Partner Launch Training as a next step to becoming a Project ECHO hub.
- 4 DH Nurses participated in the AMPATH Global Nursing Conference in Eldoret, Kenya (May 15-17).
- 2 MPH students are presenting their research projects related to Factors impacting Cervical Cancer Screening in Nepal to our team this Friday and at Sinai Public Health Research Day on May 30.
- The adolescent working group now has several pilot projects that they are applying to the pilot grant for, hoping some of them will lead to adolescent care projects (with or without funding)
Research:
- The Mount Sinai team (headed by Dr. Mary Ott) is currently working on a join submission with our Nepal colleagues (Nepal site PI, Dr. Rajeev Shrestha). This collaboration is to secure NIH/Fogarty R25 funding to develop a Master’s program for research ethics capacity building in Nepal. The final submission is due at the NIH on June 6, 2024.
-
A team will visit DH in September to work on the development of core supports for sponsored programs.
Education:
- Two IM residents in global health track now confirmed to be coming to Nepal next spring
- A few DH students interested in observerships. They would self-fund, now trying to figure out a pathway for setting it up for them with interested attendings in peds/medicine.
- We are in the process of prepping and preparing for residents that will be traveling to Nepal next year. Currently we have 1 confirmed student and 8+ confirmed residents.
AMPATH Kenya
- The Adolescent Health Summit will be held June 18-20 and has attracted 300+ participants from Kenya and the region. Registration is closed but please contact Ashley Chory, ashley.chory@mssm.edu, for details.
