Congratulations to Keviner Asigi, who has completed a ScM in Biostatistics from the School of Public Health, Brown University, under the NAMBARI-Brown/Moi Partnership for Biostatistics Training in HIV program, led by Drs. Joseph Hogan and Ann Mwanigi (NIH/FIC 5D43TW010050). Keviner’s Master’s project was entitled Exploring Mediating Variable in Evidence-Based Interventions: A Case Study of the BIGPIC Study.
NAMBARI, the Moi-Brown Partnership for HIV Biostatistics Training, and the Data Science for Social Determinants program are facilitating a five-day course on machine learning and predictive inference, with emphasis on topics in HIV. The final day of the workshop (July 5th) will include a meeting of our Social Determinants Data Working Group. The workshop, entitled 2024 Summer Workshop on Advanced Biostatistical Methods: Machine Learning for Real World Data, will be held in the EKA Hotel Eldoret, Kenya, July 1 – 5, 2024. The workshop faculty are Rumi Chunara, Associate Professor of Biostatistics, New York University Joseph Hogan; Professor of Biostatistics, Brown University; Ann Mwangi, Associate Professor of Biostatistics, School of Science and Aerospace Studies, Moi University; Allison DeLong, Biostatistician, Brown University Ziv Shkedy, Professor of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics, Hasselt University. The workshop is funded by U.S. NIH-FIC Grants D43TW010050 & 1U2RTW01212.
Congratulations to Joan Chepngeno and Nelson Anangwe who have completed an MPH from Brown University, School of Public Health under the Brown/Moi Training Program for the Prevention of HIV-Related Cervical Cancer, led by Susan Cu-Uvin and Omenge Orango (5D43TW011317). Joan’s MPH thesis was entitled, Contraception Use Among HIV-infected Women Diagnosed With Cervical Dysplasia in Western Kenya. Nelson’s MPH thesis was entitled, Exploring the Relationship Between Pathology Resources and Cervical Cancer Diagnosis from 2018 to 2022: A Retrospective Study at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, Western Kenya
