14 On Mortality

I think, I live, but
I do not know the truth.
What am I to time?
He is tricky. He is swift.
It’s lucky I can’t see it.

He lives and moves in
The Way of death, the holy
Way of endless light.
Nothing will last forever
Presence overcomes the fight.

But one day, it all
Will halt, and we will wonder
About the soul, the mind, and
how it hastened. And pause,
accepting this is life’s plight.

Eventually, the
twilight overtakes our lives.
And we are left to
ponder what has passed us by
and appreciate what lasts.

Indeed, I think that
this passing away will be
An homage to life.
For, it was a great honor
To contemplate and succeed.
