Carlos earns Golden Apple – again!

Professor of Clinical Medicine W. Graham Carlos III, MD, was selected for the Golden Apple Award by the Class of 2025 as part of the school’s annual Excellence in Leadership Awards. The Golden Apple Award recognizes outstanding support, dedication and contributions to students at IU School of Medicine.
Carlos is a practicing pulmonary and critical care physician in the Indianapolis area; but as an active faculty member in the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine, he regularly travels to all nine of the IU School of Medicine campuses to give lessons on pulmonary care.
Members of the Class of 2025 said Carlos was “generous with his support, time, guidance and teaching,” that he “as an incredible talent” for making lessons engaging, and “consistently goes above and beyond to find innovative ways to teach material.”
“Dr. Carlos’ passion for both teaching and for patient care is evident both during preclinical and clinical years,” one student said. “It meant a lot that he traveled to each campus during the pulmonary unit.”
Carlos has collected the Golden Apple Award many times, most recently from the Class of 2023. He once earn the award for an unprecedented eight consecutive years.
