Assisting large-scale science via NetSage

Since its inception, NetSage has played a vital role in the global R&E landscape by giving researchers and educators a deeper understanding of how networks are used for scientific collaboration. In 2022, NetSage will further extend its reach by adding additional data-gathering instrumentation to large-scale scientific endeavors such as the Large Hadron Collider, the Event Horizon Telescope, and data measurement and analysis projects, such as the Data Mobility Exhibition. These additional resources will allow for more in-depth analysis of scientific workflows and a better understanding of how the global R&E network infrastructure is currently used.

Supporting polar science

Both the NEA3R and TransPAC projects provide advanced networking for important science taking place on Earth’s polar regions. In 2022, IN@IU is focusing its engagement and outreach efforts to better understand and support this polar research. From research ships in the North to research stations in Antarctica, IN@IU and its project partners are working to ensure researchers have access to advanced networking services and that these services are performing as expected.
