Snubbed

To you my love I am so well aligned

I call you dear, I call you only sweet.

How can I think you will be someone’s treat

When you are mine? I feel I am resigned

To find you are my home where I unwind

And after working so hard on the fleet.

Our little one’s come suckle at the teat

Your family does know they have consigned

To you their love and promise to portray

A decent life when looking through the glass

Like a painting of a juicy kumquat.

Now, discarded, we sit in the ashtray

So snubbed, like cigarettes, feeling harassed

So broken, no matter if we were shot.
