24 Are the Feelings In My Poems Real?

If you saw the notes app on my phone,
you may think I need a therapist, or maybe
the app had assumed that role long ago–
It seems like a cycle, every year or so,
The same old feelings for a different
girl: intrigue, love, happiness, mistakes, despair
like clockwork, we meet, fall in love, and then
we fight. I schedule a meeting with my
therapist: the notes app – Maybe I made it
all up? What if it was all fabricated?

It’s been awhile since my last meeting
I’ve taken residency in the happiness stage
but when the mistakes come and despair
follows, you may think I need a therapist.
