Reacquainted with Poetry

Their words have the power to soothe and comfort
but their melodies often fall on deaf ears.
I grasp for something to hold
Anything solid or real
But the words run through my fingers
A waterfall of ink.
In my personal experience,
poetry is a long-lost friend–
Someone you remember,
but you don’t really know that well anymore.
Poems are everywhere
but the reason that drives them can be a mystery.
