Dynamics
After you have your melody and rhythm written, you can take a look at dynamics. The dynamics of a song refers to the volume, or how loud or quiet the song should be played. Dynamics can be altered within the song as some points may be quieter and some spots may be played much louder, which can help with presenting specific emotions! By using dynamics, you will be putting emphasis on specific spots of your song to indicate the importance of the melody, lyric, guitar solo, or whatever musical element is incorporated in that spot.

You may be wondering how you add dynamics to your piece of music. In order to choose what parts should be louder or quieter, think about which spots contain the most emotion or message. As an example, the chorus of a song is normally where the main message lays, so this may be louder than a verse in order to enhance its meaning. You can also add dynamics to not only specific spots of your song, like a chorus, but to notes as well. Perhaps you want a longer note to start off quieter but get louder as it moves on. You hold all of the power to get creative with your music!
Dynamics do not rely on just one instrument as they should all be incorporating some dynamics. No matter how many instruments or sounds you are using in your song, they should all be fluctuating their volumes at some point. This will add some texture and make your song more interesting and exciting to play and listen to!
