15 Employment

J-1 students are required to have authorization to work for ALL types of employment, including work that is part of a departmental award and hourly jobs, whether on or off campus.

A J-1 student may be authorized to work a total of 20 hours a week during the academic year and full-time during the summer and official University holiday breaks. To be eligible, the student must be enrolled full-time (undergraduate minimum 12 hours, graduate minimum 8 hours), be in good academic standing and have proof of medical insurance.
