2 The Course Objectives
The Course Objectives
By fully participating in this class and completing all of its required work, at the end of the semester you will be able to:
- Identify and consider effective teaching principles specific for your grade level and content.
- Review your educational philosophy statement and apply it to your classroom practice.
- Reflect upon your personal teaching practice.
- Analyze your classroom management strategies.
- Make your final preparations for certification and licensure.
- Actively engage in your employment search.
- Consider and implement strategies to effectively teach and reach diverse populations.
- Plan and complete an “Impact on Student Learning” project that demonstrates your teaching knowledge, skills, and dispositions, as well as the impact your presence had on your students’ learning. (Note: We will talk more in-depth about the “Impact on Student Learning” project later.)
You have probably already seen this TED Talk presentation given by the late Rita Pierson. However, as we kick off the semester – and this Pressbook – I thought it timely to remind us all that “every kid needs a champion,” and we are called to be that person.
