Chapter Summary

This chapter offers an overview of the Culturally-Relevant Gender-Based Analysis (CRGBA) Framework. This framework, developed by the Native Women’s Association of Canada (NWAC) in response to gaps in traditional Gender-Based Analysis (GBA) practices, highlights the cultural, historical, and intersecting features of identity among Indigenous Women, Girls, Two-Spirit, Transgender, and Gender-Diverse+ (WG2STGD+) Peoples. The CRGBA Framework provides a new perspective for educators to engage in contextualized, critical, and anti-colonial pedagogy, bridging gaps between Indigenous and non-Indigenous worldviews. This chapter outlines the CRGBA’s rationale, previous applications, and potential for application as a pedagogical tool in Global Development Studies (GDS). The authors provide sample teaching tools for educators applying the CRGBA Framework in practice.
