This chapter presents an integrated approach that links theory and practice that has been implemented in some tertiary institutions in the Global South. The author examines one approach called the third-trimester concept where students spend two trimesters on campus learning theory and a one-trimester practical training programme. This approach involves three phases: the preparatory phase of learning on campus, the project phase of learning in the community, and the ending phase where students go back to communities to give feedback on what they learned and work with communities and development actors.
