4 The Birth of Baseball Popularity

Since the creation of baseball as a sporting event the game has maintained a distance from pitcher to hitter of 60 feet and 6 inches from inception to the present day. This constant has been the only consistent aspect of the sport as the game has seen records broken and created many stars that have brought major notoriety to the sport. The most memorable of these stars is Babe Ruth. The “Big Bambino” brought focus to the home run once the star switched from pitcher to outfielder. Ruth hit 60 home runs in 1927 which obliterated any previous record for the statistic. Babe was the one-of-a-kind can’t-miss player that baseball needed to catapult the game to infamy.
