7 “Connecting Is Key!” with Max

Coming into this semester I thought I was prepared. Most steps along my journey felt comfortable but I wish I knew how comfortable my professors were with working with students. Everyone would tell me to set up meetings and go out of my way to talk with professors, but I still had doubts that it would make a difference. But it works! It relieves stress, and creates a positive relationship with people who can help you succeed.

The best advice I could give someone for college is to talk to every single person you can whether you would like to or not, because you never know the power the person next to you holds or who they might know. Connect with your professors, friends, classmates, and anyone who you may come across during your time at IU. Be open to all opportunities and take every moment as it comes.

I wasn’t sure what I wanted my major to be but after taking a few classes that I am interested in and talking with my advising and career coaches they were able to help me gain insight and knowledge on how to navigate what major suits me. I found my strengths and applied them to the resources IU offers to find out that there are majors that fulfill my creative goals for college.

Every day is an opportunity here in Bloomington and you get to choose your outcome. If you sit around and just mess around with homework not truly learning material you won’t be successful. By finding a balance between school work and social life while fulfilling your academic and social goals you definitely get out what you put in, so enjoy the time you have because it may not be the same after graduation.
