January 2024 Report

AMPATH Kenya:

  • Spring Kenya program:
    • Total 26 travelers including students, residents, fellows, and faculty: mostly April-May.
    • Travelers are now completing logistical paperwork. In-person pre-departure orientation sessions scheduled for end of Feb/first week of March.

 

ADMINISTRATIVE:

  • BUAP-UT Executive Committee monthly meeting: BUAP and UT leaders continue to meet monthly to focus on collaborate strategic guidance and decision-making.
  • MOU with BUAP: We shared the draft renewal docs with the Dean for their review and revisions.

 

EDUCATION:

  • Monthly seminars:
    • o January 25, 2024 5-6:30pm CT Dra. Karina de la Rosa López of BUAP and Dr. Steven Taylor of UT will focus on diabetic emergencies. Click here to register.

RESEARCH:

  • SOPs: We continue to complete the relevant SOPs.
  • Working Groups: Our team continues to support the eight Working Groups to meet and plan their community projects.
  • AMBIA Round 3 Seed Grants: Our team is supporting Working Groups as they prepare AMBIA seed grant applications due January 16, 2024. Also, we are finalizing a new Review Committee including UT and BUAP experts.

 

CARE:

  • Jornada: The Care team has been busy preparing for the next multidisciplinary health outreach organizing supplies and medications. They also are participating in a BUAP-wide planning meetings to explore how to collaborate across schools to bring multidimensional partnership to underserved communities in the state of Puebla.
  • Astellas: Jan 25-26: We held our next promotora (CHW) workshop. Our community-based partner (FMG) has been conducting individual mentorship visits with the promotoras during December and January.
  • CHEER: In late-January and the month of February we will continue with home visits and also offer NCD screening and follow-up.
