10 Compulink Best Practices – Objective Tab

Jeffrey D. Perotti, M.S., O.D.

The following offers a quick introduction to the Compulink Objective tab

Visual Acuities: record visual acuities (distance and/or near, corrected and/or uncorrected, pinhole) on this tab. Hovering over the words “Visual Acuity” will display a table of historical visual acuities for the patient.

Pupils: Pupil shape, direct, consensual, and accommodative responses, and size in dim and bright light are recorded here. Clicking on the hammer and wrench icon in the upper left corner of this section will record “PERRL”, or Pupils Equal, Round and Reactive to Light, in this section. Note that hovering over the word “Pupils” will display a table of historical pupil findings for the patient.  Use “No APD” to record that the patient does not have an APD instead of “APD -“.  The minus symbol is generally very hard to see.

EOM: Using the pull-down menu, record the results of your EOM testing. In the event of restrictions, consider adding additional information in the Versions section of the Binoc Test tab.

Visual Fields (Screening): Record the results of your screening visual field testing with items from the pull-down menu.

Amsler Grid: If normal, record “Normal” in these fields. If not, click on the appropriate OD or OS icon to the right and diagram and label results as appropriate (“Missing boxes”, “Wavy lines”, etc.).

BAT:  The indications for brightness acuity testing (prior diagnosis of cataracts or suspected cataracts, prior diagnosis of secondary cataracts or suspected secondary cataracts) are few; consider performing this test if indicated.
