10 Compulink Best Practices – Objective Tab

Jeffrey D. Perotti, M.S., O.D.

The following offers a quick introduction to the Compulink Objective tab

Visual Acuities: record visual acuities (distance and/or near, corrected and/or uncorrected, pinhole) on this tab. Note that hovering over the words “Visual Acuity” will display a table of historical visual acuities for the patient.

Pupils: Pupil shape, direct, consensual, and accomodative responses, and size in dim and bright light are recorded here. Clicking on the hammer and wrench icon in the upper left corner of this section will record “PERRL”, or Pupils Equal, Round and Reactive to Light, in this section. Note that hovering over the word “Pupils” will display a table of historical pupil findings for the patient.

EOM: Using the pull-down menu, record the results of your EOM testing. In the event of restrictions, consider adding additional information in the Versions section of the Binoc Test tab.

Visual Fields (Screening): Again, using items from the pull-down menu, record the results of your screening visual field testing here. If more than one attempt was needed to obtain a normal screening visual field, record “Matrix – Normal after 2”, for instance. If it’s normal in composite, record “FDT – Normal in composite after 2”, for instance.

Make sure to review your screening visual field before leaving the room. Repeat at least once if necessary.

Amsler Grid: If normal, record “Normal” in these fields. If not, diagram results on a separate sheet, and record “See Enclosed”. Place diagrams in chart to be scanned into Compulink.
