Financial Statements

This portion of the book is designated to financial statements at Indiana University. Financial statements are formal records of financial activities and the overall financial position of an entity.

Financial statements are utilized in both internal and external audit procedures. Financial statements are also utilized for decision making both at the executive level and within the individual unit. This portion of the book is focused on a few of the major financial statements utilized at Indiana University: internal and external financial statements, the income statement, the balance sheet, and cash flow statements. Review the Consolidated Financial Annual Reports for IU maintained by the Indiana University Finance Office. The statements provide a summary of the flow of the economic resources of the university during the fiscal year. The statements report the university’s financial position with comparative data from the previous fiscal year.
