Sunjay Anekal

Sunjay is from Crown Point, Indiana, and is a biology major at Indiana University. He has always been interested in the field of medicine. Outside of medicine, Sunjay is an avid sports fan. He is a Chicago Bears and Bulls fan even though they both are not very good teams. He also enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking and running. His interest in the medical field led him to explore the topic of nutritional supplements and the uncertainties present in many supplement products.

Hibah Butt

Hibah is from Indianapolis and studies international relations at Indiana University, focusing on sustainability. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, painting, and baking too many sweet treats. Hibah became interested in the topic of food consumption and social media after she noticed certain consumption habits influencers had on YouTube and various social media platforms.

Cynthia Cahya

Cynthia grew up in Carmel, Indiana and is a biology major at Indiana University. She currently lives in San Diego where she loves to spend as much time outside. One of her goals is to visit every national park before she dedicates herself to the field of medicine. Her article was inspired by her own experience with college dining halls, and the frustration she felt with the lack of fresh, nutritious options.

Anoop Chinthala

Anoop was born in Carmel, Indiana.  He lives in the moment, chasing adventure at sites such as the Taj Mahal or the biggest ball of twine in Minnesota.  He also enjoys biking, which he does for his Beta Sig fraternity’s bike team. He plans to attend the Indiana University School of Medicine in the coming year to begin his career in medicine.

Jacob deCastro

Jacob is a journalism major from Indianapolis. Outside of school, he enjoys hiking, reading and drawing. He chose to write about his topic because he wanted to see if he was really getting a good deal when he buys wine from the bottom shelf of the store.

Adeline Dixon

Adeline is from Jeffersonville, Indiana and is a human biology major at Indiana University. Adeline has interests in medicine and plans to become a physician assistant. Outside of class, Adeline enjoys spending time with her dog and family. She has interests in the environment and chose to write about fast fashion due to the negative impacts it has on our planet.

Sandra Evans

Sandra is from a small town in Northwest Indiana. At Indiana University, Sandra studies biology with a minor in chemistry. Outside of classes, she enjoys playing her violin as well as spending quality time with her husband and dog. Eggs have always been a staple protein for Sandra, but she had never considered spending more money on higher priced eggs. She chose to write “The Deceptible, Unequable Egg” to get a fuller picture as to why the price of eggs varies so dramatically.

Sofia Godinez

Sofia has lived in Naperville, Illinois for most of her life, but has also lived in three other countries including Mexico, where her family is from. She has two chihuahuas and enjoys taking them on long walks and cuddling up on the couch to watch a movie with them. She also enjoys cooking, exercising, and spending time outdoors. Her interest in writing about salmon sparked from her family’s love for a good meal and hunting down the best quality food. She hopes to keep traveling the world in order to learn more about food, where it comes from, and how to take care of our planet.

Shaun Grega

Shaun Grega is from Seattle, Washington, but attended high school at Fishers in Indiana, which he values as the best four years of his life. His hobbies include hiking, skiing and playing piano. He also comes from a family of beekeepers, which has become a refuge for Shaun as he enjoys spending time with the bees at night.

Jana Krueger

Jana Krueger is from Huntington, Indiana. Her interests include reading, listening to music, and binge-watching New Girl, Schitt’s Creek, and Friends in her free time. Jana is interested in the retail industry and the future of product development which led her to write about the power of denim. She also loves exploring new places and trying new restaurants.

Ruhie Mehra

Ruhie is from Mumbai, India, and is completing her consumer psychology major at Indiana University. In her spare time, Ruhie enjoys exercising, traveling, and indulging in artistic activities. Her article was inspired by the fact that chicken is her favorite food to cook and eat. She wanted to understand the differences in various kinds of chicken and exactly what the multiple labels on the packaging meant in order to ensure she buys the right kind of meat.

Lizzie Patterson

Lizzie is from Cleveland, Ohio, and is an international studies major. She enjoys cooking and traveling and also has an interest in politics. Her interest in the country of France along with her ability to speak French led her to study abroad in southern France during the spring semester of her junior year. During her time abroad, she learned about the differences in the food systems between France and the U.S., influencing her to write her article.

Tommy Pawlowski

Tommy hails from Crown Point, Indiana. Tommy is an avid chess player and considers it one of his favorite activities. His article came from a lifelong passion for understanding the foods that we eat, which was started by his father, a physician who would explain to him the science of their meals when they ate.

Kathryn Petersen

Kathryn Petersen is from Indianapolis and enjoys running and hiking Hoosier trails in her spare time. Her article stems from a conversation with her family about the legitimacy of diamonds. She became especially interested in public perception of naturally mined versus lab mined diamonds.
