Angela Apicella

Angela Apicella is a senior studying Journalism with a concentration in Public Relations. She is also minoring in Marketing and Spanish, and is from Arlington Heights, Illinois. In her spare time, Angela is the Co-Chair for the Jill Behrman Color the Campus 5K and is an intern for local nonprofit My Sister’s Closet. Angela is interested in fashion, sustainability, and nonprofit communication.

 

 

Ashley Brown

Ashley Brown is a senior from Lagrange, Indiana studying Mathematics, Economics, and Rock & Roll History. In her free time, she enjoys playing the alto saxophone in the IU Marching Hundred and spending time with friends. Her interest in gardening as a solution to the environmental issues caused by industrialized farming stems from her experience growing up in an Amish community where gardening is prevalent.

 

 

Mary Kate Ausbrook

Mary Kate Ausbrook is a senior from Washington, D.C. studying Political Science. She chose to write about food waste because of her interest in its impact on the environment, and her use of the food waste app Too Good to Go. When she isn’t writing about food waste, Mary Kate enjoys playing soccer and spending time with family and friends.

 

 

 

Casey Carroll

Casey Carroll is an Indiana University senior from South Bend, Indiana, studying journalism with a concentration in public relations. She is hoping to work at a book publishing company or a literary agency after graduation. Casey decided to write about food labelling because she was curious to learn how other people decide to buy food. In her free time, she enjoys reading, writing, and drawing.

 

Maria Emmanoelides

Maria Emmanoelides is a senior at Indiana University from Noblesville, IN. She is studying Media Advertising and Marketing. She chose to write about the overproduction in the fashion industry and its impact on the environment because she is a shopaholic trying to alleviate her addiction.

 

 

 

 

Lauren Fischer

Lauren is a senior at Indiana University studying public relations and history. She is from Kansas City, KS. In her free time, Lauren enjoys playing clarinet in the Marching Hundred band. Lauren decided to write about organic, natural, and biodynamic wines because she aspires to become a wine snob.

 

 

 

Sara Kress

Sara is a senior at Indiana University studying journalism and history. She is from Indianapolis, Indiana, and enjoys sewing, knitting and hanging out with friends. Sara wrote about monoculture farming because she is interested in farming practices in the United States and their effect on the environment.

 

 

 

 

Andrew Murray

Andrew is a senior from Scituate, Massachusetts studying Political Science. While on campus, he lives in the library actively pursuing academic excellence. Outside the classroom, Andrew races in the Little 500 as the captain of Phi Delta Theta.

 

 

 

 

Elliott Obermaier

A senior from Indianapolis, Indiana, Elliott studies anthropology and music. Outside of academics, he spends the majority of his time managing a music networking and performance organization for IU Bloomington students. Elliott enjoys backpacking, roadtripping, reading, and listening to live music.

 

 

 

 

Matthew Rissinger

Matt is originally from Lititz, Pennsylvania and is a senior at Indiana University studying French. Matt’s interests include geopolitics, moral philosophy, traveling, and good-hearted debauchery with friends and family.

 

 

 

 

Ruhan Syed

Ruhan is a fourth-year student at Indiana University from Avon, Indiana studying political science, middle eastern languages and cultures, and is pursuing a business honors certificate through the Liberal Arts and Management Program (LAMP). Outside of class Ruhan spends a decent amount of time on politics and video games.

 

 

 

Stacey Tam

Stacey is a senior majoring in biochemistry at Indiana University. In her spare time, she enjoys spending too much money while eating out and trying different foods, especially desserts. Concerned about the excessive use of plastic in the food industry, she wanted to investigate a potential solution to this crisis.

 

 

 

 

Emma Wagner 

Emma Wagner is a student studying International Studies and Economics at Indiana University and is interested in how culture influences economic practices and vice versa and various aspects of food security. She is from Naperville, Illinois.  Emma enjoys painting, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

 

 

 

 

Jason Wang

Jason is a junior from West Lafayette, Indiana studying Neuroscience at Indiana University. Interested in how his university is addressing food waste, he chose to write about the university’s zero waste initiatives. Outside the classroom, he enjoys going to coffee shops, reading, and listening to music.
