Get a jump start on English
Located in the heart of IUI’s campus, a real university experience sets the Program for Intensive English (PIE) apart from other English centers. As a PIE student, you’ll have the opportunity to meet IUI’s English requirement for admission before you start a degree program—all while you experience campus life as an IUI student. Our students have continued on to IU-Indianapolis degree programs in Informatics, Computer Science, Dentistry, Nursing, Law, and more.
The PIE has seven levels of English classes, from high beginner to advanced academic English. They’ll help you develop the academic language skills you need for a successful university experience. The PIE also offers free tutoring and a conversation partner program with IUI students who are native speakers.
You’ll take a placement test at orientation to find your starting level. When you pass the appropriate level, you’ll meet the English proficiency requirements for IU-Indianapolis programs and won’t have to show a TOEFL or IELTS score when you apply
The PIE offers six sessions each year. You can start at the beginning of any session. PIE offers classes in Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing, and Grammar.
