31 E-mail Communication
IU E-mail
- Each student has an IU network ID and e-mail address on the Indiana University computer network. Students must have an active IU email account for the duration of the program.
- All official notifications from the IU School of Medicine Health Professions Program Administrative Office will be sent by email to the student’s official university email address. As this is the mechanism for official communication by IU (see https://studentcentral.iupui.edu/personal-information/university-email.html), it is the student’s responsibility to monitor their university email accounts.
Communicating with Faculty
- Communication with program faculty and staff should be by IU email accounts only.
- Text messaging is not an appropriate form of official communication. In emergencies, a phone message may be left but must be followed up with an email to the appropriate person.
- Students are expected to check their IU email accounts at least, twice a day, since faculty use this email system for student communication and to disseminate information.
- It is the student’s responsibility to forward email from their IU account to another email address if they choose to do so.
- The student’s failure to monitor their email may cause a missed deadline or impact academic progress.
Students should use the Services and Support section of the Information Technology website at http://uits.iu.edu/ to activate, modify or find additional information regarding network ID’s.
