44 Military Service Requirements

IU recognizes that students who serve in the U.S. armed forces may encounter situations in which military obligations force them to take extended time off due to drill, training camps, deployment, or other instances.

Each situation will be unique and likely include extenuating circumstances.  Students involved in the National Guard, Reserves, or any branch of the military should request a meeting with the Program Director in the summer or fall of their first year in the program. Discussion can take place on possible occurrences while in the Program.

  • A plan of action for an altered schedule can be developed for any student that provides his/her military orders.
  • A detailed calendar of excused time off to fulfill the military obligations must be created and provided to all program faculty in advance, as needed.
