91 NMT Clinical Competencies
CLINICAL COMPETENCIES
For each clinical course, students are expected to complete clinical procedures and enter them in E*Value accurately. Once entered in E*Value, they will be verified electronically by the supervising technologist.
- Students are required to obtain 95% of the required procedures, 40% of elective procedures and 50 (total) CT competencies prior to graduation. A list of competencies is posted in E*Value.
- Failure to obtain the minimum number of procedures/competencies will result in and “Incomplete” or an “F” for the last clinical course. Students who receive an “Incomplete” will have a delayed graduation. Students who fail this course this course will be ineligible for graduation.
- To obtain a competency, students must ask the supervising technologist for permission to independently perform the competency prior to the start of the procedure.
- Students are expected to enter data accurately into E*Value.
- Missing or incorrect information can result in a rejected procedure by the technologist, the RISP clinical instructor or the program director.
- Completed clinical procedures must be entered into E*Value within 24 hours following completion.
- Failure to submit within 24 hours may result in a rejected procedure by the technologist, the RISP clinical instructor or program director.
- Each clinical supervisor will determine how a competency can be entered (ie: smart phone, iPad, hospital computer, etc.)
- If a procedure is rejected, the student will need to repeat the entire procedure.
- **Procedures for entering the competency data into E*Value are provided in the Clinical Canvas site and on the E*Value Home page.
- **See Clinical Syllabus for more details concerning competencies
PRODUCTIVITY IN CLINIC
Each semester will have a productivity level of competency exams that is recommended. This productivity level increases each semester accumulating in the final total of competency exams required for graduation. Students are encouraged to work toward the recommended level of completed competency exams each semester. Students who fall short of the recommended productivity level will be counseled by the program director and/or RISP clinical instructor on their clinical progress.

Being productive in clinic means doing all procedures and exams regardless of having achieved the competency or having performed the exam numerous times. Indicating a lack of interest in preforming exams shows a lack of professional behavior. Clinical site technologists have the right to send the student home due to lack of productivity, in which the student will incur a ½ to full personal day.
If there are no patient examinations, hot lab or quality control task to perform, the student should acquaint themselves with the equipment, department protocols and procedures, clean, stock and after these items are addressed may request permission to study.
