28 Academic Requirements
Course Enrollment and Grading
- Students must enroll in courses as sequenced by the curriculum.
- Students must complete the prerequisites identified for each course before enrolling in the course.
- Students must maintain a program GPA of at least 2.0.
- Students must pass all courses, except electives, with a “C” or better grade. A “C-” is less than a “C” and is not considered a passing grade.
- Students receiving less than a “C” in any required program course will be placed on academic probation and must repeat the course before graduation.
- Since courses are held once per year, repeating a course may delay graduation.
- Radiography Students Only: A C- grade will be accepted in R151 as long as a “C” or better is achieved in R171.
- Students receiving two-course grades of less than a “C” will be dismissed from their program due to lack of academic progress. See Dismissal Policy for more information.
- The course syllabus for each course will provide specific information regarding the grading scale for that course.

Academic Counseling
Academic counseling for each student is provided before enrollment each semester by a faculty member of the student’s major department. Although academic counseling is intended to provide effective guidance and every student is encouraged to seek the counsel of a faculty advisor, each student is responsible for his or her own program and for meeting degree requirements by the time he/she expects to graduate.
Transcripts
The Office of the Registrar maintains the official academic record for all courses taken at IUI. Any student whose University account is clear may obtain a copy of his or her academic record at IUI, or request a copy be sent to a third party. Official transcripts are printed on security paper and are embossed with the Indiana University seal and signature of the Registrar. Transcript fees can be paid by cash, check, money order, master/visa/discover charge card. It is a violation of the law for the university to release a copy of the transcript without the student’s specific authorization.
