10 My work: STEAM & Sneakers

This open-source educational resource was created for current and future teachers, scientists, and educators to use and incorporate in their respective settings I have designed a workshop series that will introduce students to the chemistry found in sneakers. Students will go through the series of lessons and learn about a variety of General, Polymer, and Materials Chemistry found in sneakers. At the conclusion of the workshop, students will have successfully been introduced to specialized sciences with these hands-on STEAM activities.

Additionally, students will create and design their own custom STEAM Sneaker art. The various activities can be tailored to students based on their age and education level. Each of the activities and craft aspect complements each of the STEAM lessons. (Ideally for students in grades 5-12). The hydrophobicity activity provided is a cost-effective activity and introduces the concept of hydrophobicity and how it relates to sneakers.
