Everyone can benefit…

HANDS in Autism teaches evidence-based practices and increases understanding of the perspectives of individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other related disabilities. We encourage inclusive practices in the community, so that individuals and families across the lifespan are encouraged to reach their potential. Please check our community outreach listings to learn more about our Local Community Cadres, newsletters, and more.

Healthcare

Healthcare takes many forms, and those working to serve others have many different roles. This can include but isn’t limited to doctors, dentists, front-office staff, nurses, specialists and more. The following types of workshops and trainings offer opportunities to learn evidence-based practices you can take back to your workplace to improve your inclusion and support of individuals with ASD

Education

When we think of education, we think teachers. However, education is a team effort that includes teachers, principals, administrators, paraprofessionals, consultants, therapists and more. These trainings and workshops are designed to be most helpful to those who educate.

Families and Caregivers

Parents, siblings, caregivers, and chosen families in the home setting can benefit from our understanding-expanding trainings and workshops. All of our evidence-based practices have the goal of increasing independence for individuals with ASD. We assist you by explaining approaches you may not have considered previously that can help respectfully reduce anxiety and frustration for individuals in the home and community.

Community Member and Service Providers

According to the CDC “About 1 in 54, or 1.85%, of 8-year-old children were identified with ASD…”. Even if you do not specialize in an environment that directly supports individuals with ASD, it is likely that you still meet them day-to-day. Neighbors, friends, customers, coworkers, fellow worshipers, we all have a duty to include neurodiversity in our understanding of our community. These workshops and trainings teach science-backed information about how best to include your peers with ASD in the workplace, in public, and beyond.
