If a typical internship or part-time job (on or off campus) doesn’t seem to be something of interest, but are still looking for ways to build experience, consider:

With school to balance along with various other post-pandemic considerations, looking for a traditional internship can feel daunting. Your career coach can help you navigate this & support you at the pace that feels suitable for you. However, experience is a vital part of the college experience to prepare you for opportunities post-graduation. An alternate you might want to consider in the meantime are virtual work simulation experiences & micro-internships. These experiences are short-term, project-based, and will help you explore career fields and build experience for your resume. You can test out career fields and build your professional network. Plus, these can be completed remotely!

Explore 5-6 hour virtual work experience programs with Fortune 500 companies to test out the work of a particular role. Earn a personalized certificate of completion to share on LinkedIn and get your job application prioritized if you want to pursue the company further. Add this experience to your resume demonstrating your learned practical skillsets. All of this is virtual–from the convenience of your home!

Micro-Internships with Parker Dewey
Parker Dewey was created especially for college student with limited to no experience in mind. These paid short-term (micro!) experiences give students opportunity to explore career opportunities, demonstrate skills, and build relationships — all on your schedule. Select projects from a list that sound interesting to you, fill out the online application completely and submit your resume (your career coach can help you with this)! If selected for a project, you will know upfront how long it is expected to take (most are between 5-15 hours to complete) and how much compensation you will earn for your time.
