2 Engage and student reading behaviors: instructions
Overview
At this station you will be annotating an article in Engage, the Unizin standard ereader. If you haven’t used Engage in a while, or if you haven’t had a chance to interact with it as a student, the activity below covers the basic functionality we’ll be using. Click on the purple checkmarks for more information!
Breakout activity: brainstorming strategies for class readings
During this session you’ll be annotating an article, Helping Students Read Difficult Texts, with strategies that instructors can use to help students read course content.
What to annotate
Pages 1-5 of the article you’ll be annotating describes challenges students face when reading course content. With your group, highlight challenges and add annotations describing strategies that instructors can use to overcome them. Do not try to read the article! Reading the headings and skimming some content will suffice.
Now that you know what you’ll be brainstorming, learn how you can add your annotations to the article by watching the following interactive video.
