Stop #9: The Student Activities Center

The Student Activities Center, or, as it is lovingly called, “The SAC,” is the hub of student life on campus. Built in 2004, it boasts a 100,000 square-foot facility includes basketball, volleyball, and racquetball courts, a walking track, a cafĂ©/sub shop, a student lounge, and the student life (club) offices and meeting rooms.

The SAC is a great place to take a break or work out between classes. Intramural sports, such as basketball and volleyball, share space with the varsity teams practicing at the Student Activities Center and students can enroll for fitness classes like yoga, Zumba, spinning, and more. Plus, students can attend athletic events free with a student ID!

SAC also is home to Student Government, The Preface (student newspaper) and Titan Productions (a student organization that presents concerts, events, and educational programs for IU South Bend students).

The Office of Student Life offers many options and opportunities for campus involvement! There is something for everyone at IU South Bend – and, if you don’t find a club that interests you, they can help you start and sustain a new organization!
